Grind

Coarse coffee grind

Coarse grind contains relatively large particles and is commonly associated with longer-contact brewing methods such as French press.

Common uses

French press and some cold-brew recipes commonly start with coarse grounds. The exact setting depends on the grinder and recipe.

Adjusting the grind

If a recipe extracts too slowly or tastes overly intense, a coarser setting may be appropriate; if it extracts too quickly or tastes thin, a finer setting may help. Taste and recipe data should guide adjustments.
